Photo Class week 5

So tonight was our last photo class. I'm a little sad, cause it means that it's over. We spent the first part of class critiquing the images from our last assignments. Once again my teacher was very impressed with the pictures that I took. He complimented me on my ability to capture things a little differently again. It's always nice to hear that something you've done is good. The second part of class was spent putting all our pictures together in our portfolios. We laid out all the pictures from the class and one that we had from before and our teacher sorted through them and told us were to place them in our books. It was kind of cool to watch him put our books together. I was actually really happy with the end result. The class was an overall success. Now hopefully I can continue to work on my photography even though I'm not in the class. Stay tuned for more pictures! :)

Photo Class- Assignment 8

The second assignment for my photo class this week was cowboy hats. Fortunately for me my roommates boyfriend brought over a few of his hats. It was kind of fun to take pictures of them and I think I ended up with a couple that I like. I also learned how to do borders in photoshop that are kind of fun.

Photo Class- Assignment 7

The first assignment for my photo class this week was buildings at night. I decided to take picture of some of the downtown buildings when I was down there after the baseball game the other night. I think they turned out okay... not my favorite, but okay.

Photo Class week 4

Class went really well tonight. My teacher was really happy with all of the pictures I took at the Japanese Friendship Garden on Saturday. He even told me that he was really impressed with how I was very focused and direct about what I was taking pictures of. He told me that some people just take tons of pictures, but that I seemed to be a little more deliberate. It was a big compliment, and it's always nice to hear that your pictures are liked. He also liked my fruit ones. I loved seeing what other people did and I wish sometimes that I could take pictures and show you some of them. It's amazing how creative some people are. Anyways I got my last two assignments this week. I can't believe it, but our last class is next week. Well the assignments are:
  • Buildings at night
  • Cowboy hat
I think both of these will stretch me a little, but that's the point of taking the class.

Photo Class- Assignment 6

The second assignment for my photo class this week was flowing water. Part of that assignment was also to have pictures from the Japanese Friendship Garden in Phoenix. We had a 'fieldtrip' there Saturday morning. The Japanese Friendship Garden is in downtown Phoenix and is really kind of cool. It's a peaceful place in the middle of the city. I really like some of the pictures that I ended up with.

Photo Class- Assignment 5

The first assignment that I did for my photo class this week was fruit. It was an interesting one, but I was super excited about it because of all the bright colors, but not honestly sure who to make it interesting. I think I like the second shot better, but I guess that's why you try new things.

Photo Class week 3

Class tonight went pretty well. We had the opportunity to critique someone else's pictures tonight. It's a little difficult to tell someone else how to take pictures, since really to me a picture is captured in the eye of the person who takes it. It is interesting just to see other people's opinions. Anyways I got two more assignments for this next week, they are:
  • Flowing water
  • Fruit
We'll see how that goes this week.

Photo Class- Assignment 4

The second assignment for my photo class this week was horses. I wasn't really sure about this assignment either. The horses that lived across the street from us were sold recently. So I had to be a little more creative. Maybe I pulled it off. This wasn't my favorite assignment but I guess that's one way this is stretching me.

Photo Class- Assignment 3

The first assignment for my photo class this week was antiques. At first I wasn't really sure where to go to find antiques. I don't really have any around my house. I eventually went down the street to the antique store. It was kind of cool to see what they had. Tons of random stuff. I think I found a couple of pictures that I liked.

Photo Class week 2

So class tonight went pretty well. It's always interesting to see other peoples pictures of the same 'subjects' and to have someone else to critique your pictures. It always helps me look at my pictures in a different light on how I could make them better. Hopefully the longer I am in the class the less the pictures will be critiqued. There are a couple people in the class that I'm really excited to see their pictures. Anyways I got two more assignments for this next week, they are:
  • Antiques
  • Horses
We'll see how that goes this week.

Photo Class- What's My Style

One of the first things that we have to think about in my photo class is what we consider 'our style'. I went back through all my old pictures to find ones that I thought best stood out to me to what my style was. Even then it is hard for me to put into words exactly what it is that I consider my style. I think for most of the pictures there was just something that stood out to me.

Photo Class- Assignment 2

The second assignment for my photo class was hearts. I was a little more creative with this one. I liked the way that they turned out. I tried to look at things a little differently but still tried to fill the assignment.

Photo Class- Assignment 1

So the first assignment for my photo class was doors and windows. I ended up taking pictures at downtown Gilbert. There were some fun old buildings with lots of personality. I ended up liking the pictures of the windows better than the doors. I liked how they turned out though.
